Community Rail Partnerships

Community Rail Partnerships now cover many local and rural lines, but the Severnside Partnership is unique in that it covers a wide geographical area that includes both urban and rural localities, served by a network of routes; these include the Bristol urban branch line, the Severn Beach Line. This Line has been designated by the Strategic Rail Authority as one of the 50 services identified as possible community rail routes.

Partnerships aim to achieve improvements to local rail services through working with Partners:

  • Promote and develop the local rail services for the benefit of residents, businesses and visitors through a partnership approach.
  • Help achieve specific improvements to local train services and at stations, including information packages
  • Assist with both general and targeted local publicity and marketing intiatives
  • Assist in promoting economic and social regeneration of the area and thus its attractiveness for inward investment
  • Help promote sustainable development and social inclusion along rail corridors
  • Promote and support tourism initiatives, including shopping by rail
  • Promote integrated transport links to the railway, including bus, cycling and walking
  • Help ensure that train services and stations are safe, secure and accessible to all including those who are disabled or less agile.
  • Identify and secure funding for the Partnership and a range of practical initiatives
  • Create synergy between agencies
  • Open up opportunities to job markets
